What’s in a Name: Identifying Your Orchid

To know your orchid is to love it – and loving it is knowing how to care for it. Learn how to identify and care for some of the more common orchid genera. A book signing will follow the presentation.

Barb Schmidt published her first book, Orchid Care: For the Beginner, in 2016. She has a bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry and a teaching certificate in secondary science. Barb has been raising and showing orchids for over 14 years and is a member of the American Orchid Society’s Education Committee and PHS. She has been teaching orchid classes throughout the country this past year at locations such as the UCLA Botanic Gardens, Cornell Botanic Gardens and the U.S. Botanic Gardens in Washington, DC. She will also be teaching a class at the Smithsonian Institute later this month.
